Where we are aiming
The target is WCAG 2.2 at level AA. We are not certified against it and we have not paid anyone to audit us, so treat this as our own report on our own work rather than a badge. What is below is checked automatically, and what is not checked is named.
What is in place
- Keyboard reachable throughoutEvery link, button, field and accordion works without a mouse, and focus is drawn with a visible outline rather than removed
- Skip link on every pageThe first thing a keyboard lands on is a link straight past the header into the content
- Contrast held to the standardText is checked against its real painted background at 4.5:1, and large text at 3:1, on every page at three widths
- Targets at least 24 by 24 pixelsThe minimum in WCAG 2.5.8, with the exemption for links sitting inside a sentence
- Headings in orderNo level is skipped, so a screen reader's outline matches the page you can see
- Images carry alt textDescribed where they carry meaning, marked empty where they are decoration
- Reduced motion respectedWhere the system preference is set, the scrolling paddle sequence on the home page and the reveals on the product page stop moving
- Nothing essential is hidden on a small screenA nav item that drops on a phone is still reachable from the footer, including the bag
- No hover-only informationNothing is revealed only by a pointer, and states change instantly rather than fading
The checks run across every page at 390, 820 and 1440 pixels wide before a release is cut. A page that fails does not ship.
What is not done yet
- No audit by a third party, and no testing with real screen reader users. Automated checks catch structure. They do not catch confusion.
- The frequently asked questions on the Support page are built by JavaScript, so with scripting off that section is empty. The same answers are available by email.
- The scrolling paddle sequence on the home page is decorative and carries no information, but it is not yet possible to turn it off from within the page. Only the system preference stops it.
- The brand film on the home page is silent and carries no spoken or written information, so it has no captions. Any video with narration will be captioned before it goes live.
If something blocks you
Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you were using. Write to CONTACT EMAIL. A barrier that stops you buying a paddle is a bug on our side and we will treat it as one.
If you cannot use this site to order, we will take the order by email or over the phone on PHONE instead. That option stands permanently, not as a favour.
