About

The paddle is only
as good as the hand

We don't think equipment makes a player. You do. The right paddle just gets out of the way and lets you.

Agos means current

A current does not push. It carries. It only carries you if you are willing to move with it.

Everything we make is named for water. Surge. Flow. That is not a colour story, it is how we think the game works. Progress on a court is not a straight line and it is not forced. It arrives when preparation and effort meet a moment you did not schedule.

Why scripture is on every paddle

Two verses, printed where you will see them every time you pick the paddle up. They are not branding. They are the terms we are trying to play on.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 · Surge

Give thanks in all circumstances. Including the circumstances where you lost, badly, to someone you thought you had.

1 Corinthians 10:31 · Flow

Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Which turns effort itself into the point, rather than the scoreline.

You don't have to share our faith to use our paddles, and we won't pretend that part doesn't matter to us either. You asked what we are built on. This is the honest answer.

Who is behind this

A brand asking you to trust a transformation story should probably tell you who is behind it. So here we are.

The paddles are manufactured to our specification by a factory that builds to the standard of the best paddle brands. We design them, we set the brief, and we are who you deal with if one fails. Where a claim on this site is ours, we say so. Where it is the factory's standard, we say that too.

The Pocket™ is not a spec

Surfers call it the pocket, the part of the wave that's actually carrying the power. Paddle out too far ahead of it and you stall. Sit too far behind and it passes you by. Find it, and the wave does the work for you.

The rings printed through the centre of a Surge face

On a Surge, the rings printed on the face mark the same idea in a different sport. They show you exactly where you're making contact. Most players are surprised by what they see, not because they're bad, but because nobody had ever actually shown them.

That's the whole point of printing it there. The paddle doesn't fix your contact for you. It just tells you the truth about it. What you do with that truth, repetition, attention, showing up on the days a session is inconvenient, is entirely on you.

The rings on the face are the small pocket. There's a bigger one. It's the third-shot drop that drops exactly where you meant it to, the rally you stayed in one ball longer than you thought you could, the read on your opponent that turns out right before you've even finished thinking it. You don't get there by wanting it. You get there by putting in the hours that make it look accidental, and even then it doesn't stay. You lose it a week later and go back out and find it again.

Why the price is what it is

A paddle built to this standard usually costs twice what ours does. That is not a discount, it is a decision.

We would rather a beginner and a coach at Pickle Yard hold the same construction, not two tiers of the sport. The margin we give up is the point, not a mistake we are still fixing.

Same manufacturing standard. Half the markup. The rest of the price you would be paying for is not in the paddle, it is in the name on the bag.

Come and play

Everything above is easier to understand on a court than on a website. Open plays are coming, and when the dates are set they go up here and on Instagram first.
